Democrats tend to worship at the altar of cultural shibboleths and attack dissent from anyone, including their own, with enough viciousness to make a Charlottesville protester blush.

The great weakness of the Democratic Party is that they build up these shibboleths, like the ERA, Roe v. Wade, or the Paris Climate Agreement. They place support for their shibboleths as a litmus test for general ideas and attack any nuanced approach to discuss the specifics of propositions, or their likely consequences, as demonstrative of some basic moral failing.
I believe the 14th Amendment provides adequate protections for equality. And, it does it in way that wouldn’t remove the important and specific protections women currently have in the work force, in healthcare, and in society as a whole. I’m against the ERA because I want my daughters to have the protections in society they deserve as unique and wonderful females.
A gender-blind legal framework is not necessarily in the best interest of women. Its maddening that simply pointing this out can get me, and anyone like me, denounced by Democrats and others as a chauvinistic misogynist.
